DECHEN KELDEN

Dechen Kelden lives in New York City and works as a Cultural Consultant at Avatar Studios for Nickelodeon. She was brought on in the early stages by original creators Michael Dante DiMartino and Bryan Konietzko to consult on creative and brand development, including film & series, publishing, gaming, and consumer products. She highlights areas of sensitivity, provides solutions, and offers creative input in the development process.

As a Tibetan and Kalmyk Mongolian creative, Dechen is deeply committed to advancing Asian representation in the entertainment industry. She works as a liaison, connecting with relevant communities and experts to facilitate authentic and diverse casting and acting opportunities.

She was selected amongst 1k+ candidates as the mentee of Sophia Chang, screenwriter, author, and former manager of Ol’ Dirty Bastard, RZA, and GZA of the Wu Tang Clan.

She has a Bachelor's Degree from Sarah Lawrence College, where she focused her studies on social psychology, including the psychology of inhumanity and genocide. Her studies provide a deeper insight into the psychology of villains, particularly perpetrators of violence.
